Competitions

Swimming competitions are held throughout the year and provide an opportunity for swimmers to test their skills, set personal records, and for coaches to monitor their progress. The main goal of the competitions, however, is not just to compete, but to build a competitive, team, and sports spirit, as well as to socialize and travel. Parents and all interested parties can attend the competitions, and the coach is responsible for the child’s care. Their task is to prepare young swimmers for domestic or international competitions through quality and creative training. Competitions are also an excellent opportunity to start building a serious swimming career, along with individual and group victories.
Code of conduct:
When arriving at the agreed location, parents hand over their child to the coach with all the items the child has brought, and the coach takes care of the child. The parent is obliged to leave further responsibility to the coach and not to put pressure on the child, whether positive or negative, as this can have a very negative impact on them. The parent’s obligation is only to financially regulate their obligations related to travel and competition costs, and to prepare adequate and necessary equipment for swimmers. While the matches are in progress, only competitors and coaches are allowed access to the pool.
Necessary equipment:
- Two swimsuits (at least)
- Towel or bathrobe
- Pool slippers
- Cap
- Swimming goggles
- Hairdryer
- Hair tie (if the child has long hair)
Disqualification:
Disqualification in swimming competitions occurs when a swimmer violates a specific rule:
- Performs an improper start
- Performs an inappropriate turn
- Fails to touch the wall with both hands or feet at the end of the pool
*The swimmer will not know that they have been disqualified until the end of the race, and the coach will talk to the swimmer about what really happened and work to prevent the same mistake from happening again.
*If you as a parent notice that your child has made movements that will disqualify them, do not panic, wait for the competition to finish, and do not scold your child. Mistakes happen, and sometimes they cannot be prevented. Praise them for their effort and remind them that it was a small mistake that they can successfully correct next time, because it is important to participate.
